The Losers

Go buy it, or go rent it. The Losers is a slick, funny, thrill ride action, adventure and the best movie I have seen this year, hands down!! It was entertaining, blow stuff up, a good plot, great visual special effects, ectera...
Plot line: After being betrayed and left for dead, members of a CIA black ops team root out those who targeted them for assassination.
The actors and actresses really click together in this film. Their interaction was the best part of the movie.
My favorite part of the movie was the scene of Jensen being the delivery guy and then his escape, hilarious.
Two thumbs way up!! Keep watching the movie after you think it's over for the two black ops projects, great ending to a super film...

X-Men 2 X-Men United

X-Men 2 X-Men United is the sequel to X-Men. I was on the fence about this one. I really didn't like the plot line because of how much it differed from the comic books in some ways, but that's my problem lol.
That's not saying the movie didn't have cool parts. For example, I really liked how Nightcrawler was portrayed, especially his skin and his teleporting abilities. I also liked how Lady Deathstrike's claws were done as well.

Sci Fi, Fantasy, Action,  Adventure- Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan, Famke Janssen
Made in 2003. Rated PG-13, Running Time 133 minutes.
Marvel, 20th Century Fox

X-Men

X-Men was a pretty good movie. I love the Marvel Universe about to life on the big screen. I like seeing all the mutant powers as well. Plot line: Mutants are the next step in human evolution, government is trying to get a handle on them. Sides are being chosen between the good guys who will protect humanity and the bad guys who want to rule it. Your favorite Marvel heroes and villains in this movie are: Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Rogue, Iceman, Magneto, Mystique, Sabertooth, Toad, and Pyro.

Spiderman 2

Spiderman 2 picks up after the death of Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin. I liked how the movie explained the emergence of the Hobgoblin, which was really cool. New villain for Spidey to fight, Doc Ock. Peter Parker coming to grips with his destiny.

Action/ Adventure/ Fantasy - Toby Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Alfred Molina
Running Time 127 minutes. Rated PG-13.
Marvel, Columbia Pictures, Sony

Spiderman

Ok another comic book turned movie action hero from the Marvel Universe. What can I say, I love these comic book movies when they are done well. This is the best movie adaptation of Spiderman. I actually liked the sequels as well. I liked how it portrayed Spiderman/ Peter Parker as a human being with doubts, fears, and failings. The special effects were cool as well. Kirsten Dunst made a great Mary Jane Watson as well.

Action/ Adventure/ Fantasy - Toby Maguire, Willem Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco
Running Time 121 minutes. Rated PG-13
Made in 2002. Marvel, Columbia Pictures, Sony

Wanted

Wanted had a pretty cool plot, interesting sci fi abilities, and nice special effects. I really liked the narrative portions of the movie, when the main character Wesley is talking. It gave the movie a grounding tone with some much visual special effects going around. The movie is kinda brutal and violent but it's still a good watch for the action and storyline.

Action/suspense- James McAvoy, Angelia Jolie, Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp
Made in 2008. Running time 110 minutes. Rated R.

Eclipse Sequel to New Moon

Ok, so far to date Eclipse is the best of the Twilight saga movies. Again, the portrayal of the werewolves were awesome. I think it was a good representation of Stephanie Meyer's book, Eclipse. I noticed the eyes, as a central detail to the overall storyline were yet more visible than the last movie, New Moon. The actors and actresses seem more relaxed in their  roles, which I really liked. I was happy to see Jasper's and Rosalie's stories weren't left out. I'm looking forward to seeing the next movies.
If you haven't read the books, you really should.

Romance/ Horror/ Fantasy -Kirsten Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke
Running Time 124 minutes. Rated PG-13

New Moon Twilight Sequel

The movie New Moon the sequel to Twilight was an improvement on the first movie. It goes more along the lines of the book, New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. I don't have any real complaints with this one. The actors and actresses were spot on to their characters. I love the werewolves. The special effects were nicely done. They amber topaz eyes and the red eyes were more visible in this movie which I was happy with. Dakota Fanning makes an impressive Jane.

Twilight

I hate to give this movie a bad review, because the books were really well written, and had alot of interesting twists of the vampire/ werewolf mythos. Unfortunately, I can't give it a good review. I'll have to give it a 50/50 liked and disliked. I really disliked all the googly eyes instead of using the dialogue between Edward and Bella the author wrote in the book. I could nit pick this movie to death but ,oh well. I can say each of the sequels were closer to the original books and were a vast improvement over this one. I did like the actors & actresses chosen to portray the characters especially, Alice. Alice was exactly as I envisioned her, and she was portrayed absolutely charmingly. The actresses name is Ashley Greene. The movie's not all bad or all good but it's worth it to watch to get to the sequels or if you want to see the books brought to life.

Romance, horror, fantasy- Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli
Rated PG-13. Running time 2 hours. Made in 2008

Avatar: The Last Air Bender Movie

I read alot of reviews about this movie weeks before I watched it.The reviews said it was really bad and completely deviated from the Avatar anime series. I was prepared to be disappointed. These reviewers are on crack. This movie did not deviate that much from Book 1 of the Avatar anime series. The first Harry Potter movie deviated more from the book. Or even Eragon. The movie was not that bad. I mean really if you read the reviews, you're thinking Attack of the Killer Tomatoes bad. Yes, the acting was not that great. The special effects weren't either. It was more of a ho-hum than bad.

What I did like was the spiritual sense of the bending powers. It was kinda like the martial arts style Wushu.
The kids in this film did good job representing that, which is the core to the Avatar series. I like to see anime or comics translated into film for these very reasons. The characters in this film look exactly like their anime counterparts which I thought was cool as well.

I hope they make book 2 into a movie. I will watch that one as well and not read the reviews on it :)

Fastasy/ Sci Fi, Noah Ringer, Dev Patel, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone

FullMetal Alchemist - 51 Episodes

I haven't posted in a few days because I was watching all 51 episodes of Full Metal Alchemist available on Netflix. What I like about Netflix is that is saves the place I'm watching something at when I turn it off and it keeps the episodes in order so I don't have to search for them. I watched all the episodes just to see what happens to Edward and if Al ever gets his body back. I liked the whole alchemist concept and the storyline.

Fullmetal is cool anime series. I think the ratings vary between Tv-14 -NR for violence.

Each episode is about 20-25 minutes long. Funimation Productions

Batman: Under The Red Hood

I saw this last night. I was a little disappointed with the storyline, as in within a few minutes of watching it, I knew what was going to happen. I really enjoyed the Dark Knight anime series. The acting voices and animation were great. Everything had the "Batman" feel to it. It was nice to see my favorite villains The Joker, who was absolutely hilarious ( no problem with writing his lines) and Ra's al Ghul.

I really cannot express how much I like Bruce Greenwood as Batman, Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing, and John Di Maggio as the Joker.
They have great voices, making the characters really come alive.

Rated PG-13. Running Time 75 minutes.
Warner Bros.

Superman Doomsday

This was pretty cool for an anime. It was based of the comic The Death of Superman. Superman Doomsday had a good storyline and excellent voice actors. I liked this anime much more than the last film of about Superman, Superman Returns.

Made in 2007. Voices of Adam Baldwin, Anne Heche, James Masters.
Rated PG-13. Running Time 75 minutes.
Warner Bros.

Netflix

I decided to try Netflix Unlimited with the 30 day free trial and 1 DVD out at a time. It was easy to sign up and I can pay with my Paypal account. So I ordered a dvd, it'll be here tomorrow. I watched Superman Doomsday instantly. No lag or any problems. Pretty cool so far.

Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four was a good film to watch. It had a storyline, great special effects, action, and character interaction. It also spun off a sequel: Rise of the Silver Surfer. This is another comic book turned movie from the Marvel Universe and 20th Century Fox. If you like any of the following movies you'll like this one: Spiderman, Ironman, or Daredevil. The movie interpretation of character, The Thing, is awesome.

Made in 2005, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Chis Evans, Michael Chiklis

Elektra

I decide to go ahead and list this one after Daredevil, since Elektra makes her first appearance there. It was nice to see a Marvel Universe heroine, for a change :) but then again she's an assassin as well. Elektra's story was a cool movie to watch. The red outfit is kicking. I wish it had been a little more in depth, since I have read a few of her comics.

Made in 2006,  Jennifer Garner, Terence Stamp, Kirsten Prout
Rated PG-13, 96 Minutes

DareDevil

This was a pretty cool movie. I have the director's cut which to me is far better because it expands on the storyline and increases the movie length by 30 minutes. It fills in details and gaps. It does raise the rating from PG-13 to R due to increased violence and language.

This is another movie brought to you by the Marvel Universe of comics. Daredevil's story translates well into a movie. Lots of superhero action, plot, and little romance goes far with this film. I didn't really read any of the DD comics, so the film expands enough upon the characters for you to understand them, be amazed, and enjoy the ride, even if you weren't a comic book follower.

The movie also brings out the character Elektra, who has her own movie as well.

Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Michael Clarke Duncan, Colin Farrel

This movie is rated R, PG-13 version available. Made in 2003.

Tristan + Isolde

This is an epic movie, along the lines of Romeo and Juliet. These are James Franco's and Sophia Myles best performances by far. The storyline is superior and the sword fighting scenes are impressive. I really thought this was a great movie.

This an action/ romance/ drama.

This movie has James France, Sophia Myles, Rufus Sewell, in it.
Rated PG-13. 125 minutes

Bulletproof Monk

Bulletproof Monk wasn't a bad movie. I won't say it was great. I have seen other films of both Chow-Yuan Fat and Seann William Scott that I liked more. Since I like action, adventure, and fantasy movies, this has a combination of all. They just didn't go deep enough into any of it to satisfy me. Maybe it was the Nazis...
If you've never seen it, I'd say it's worth a rent or if you're a fan of either of these actors, add it to your collection.

Rated PG-13. Made in 2003. 104 minutes long.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

This movie takes place in 1899 and uses literary fictional giants like Tom Sawyer, Mina Harker, Allan Quartermain, The Invisible Man, Captain Nemo, Dr.Jekyll, ectera... I didn't think I was going to like this movie at first, but I was wrong.

It is an excellent adventure/action/ fantasy move that breathes life into stale previously used characters.
Stars: Sean Connery, Stuart Townsend, Shane West, PetaWilson, Jason Flemyng

Rated PG-13. Running time 110 minutes

Twentieth Century Fox

The Patriot

The Patriot is set in the beginning of the Revolutionary War. I like the era authenticity of the language, wardrobe, sets, and sequences. The storyline is draws you in. The film may not be historically accurate but it is highly engrossing.

This is a historical drama movie. Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger
The Patriot is rated R. Running time 157 minutes

Trilogy: Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Dark Fury

I had these originally as single dvds. Then Pitch Black got damaged and I got the Tripack with all three movies on it. Riddick is one of my favorite antiheroes. This movies has alot of good one liners and fresh mythos/scifi set. There are also different versions of this movie as well. I noticed between watching the original single dvds and the tripack. Dark Fury is an anime.
My favorite parts of Pich Black were :
"Where can I get eyes like that?" and "Looks clear,"

This is a Sci Fi /action movie: Vin Diesel

Pitch Black is rated R and Chronicles of Riddick is rated PG-13, or unrated version.
Pitch Black running time: 1hr 49 minutes. Chronicles of Riddick 2 hours.
Pitch Black 2000. Chronicles of Riddick 2004.

Ironman

I'll go ahead and admit it. I like comic books turned into movies. I enjoyed see Tony Stark's story brought to life from the Marvel Universe and the beginning of S.H.I.E.L.D. I think this is Robert Downey Jr's best role.
I also liked Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts.
It also has a sequel Ironman 2.

Action/ fantasy movie: Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges.

Made in 2008. Running time 125 minutes. Rated PG-13.

Kung Fu Hustle

Kung Fu Hustle is a funny, campy, martial arts movie. From dancing mobsters in tuxedos to budda palm fight sequences and the toe crusher, it'll keep you entertained. It kinda reminds me of a cleaner version of Kill Bill.
It's worth a watch.

Comedy / Action genre: Stephen Chow

Trilogy: Underworld, Underworld Evolution, and Rise of the Lycans

Underworld has a good storyline, and special effects. It's a vampiric/werewolf horror fantasy based movie trilogy. It's not another horror movie that uses gore for the sake of gore for shock entertainment.

In Underworld and Evolution, I enjoyed seeing a strong female lead character with substance, Selene. Underworld and Evolution are set in today/future.
In Rise of the Lycans, the werewolf leader, Lucian, (Michael Sheen) and his back story is told. Rise of the Lycans is set in the past.
Horror, fantasy, action : Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy

These movies come in rated R or not rated versions. Underworld was made in 2003. Evolution was made in 2006. Rise of the Lycans was made in 2009.
Sony Pictures

50 First Dates

This movie is one of my all time favorites. It's a great movie for couch snuggling or just run in the background for noise. The soundtrack is good as well. 50 First Dates is set in Hawaii, and an aquarium where the ultimate bachelor faces the ultimate challenge. Check out the penguin and the walrus. Sing it with me, "Forgetful Lucy, bumped her head like..."

If you haven't added this one to your DVD collection, you're missing out. If you liked Happy Gilmore or the Wedding Singer, you'll enjoy this movie.

Romantic Comedy: Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Rob Schneider, Sean Austin
It was made in 2004. Running time 99 minutes. Rated PG-13.
